Manual Handling
KML Safety Services Ltd. provides a half day training course tailored to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and attitude to enable them to lift and move loads in accordance with good Manual Handling Techniques. The Course includes theory and practical training and certificates will be awarded to successful participants.
What is Manual Handling?
Any transporting or supporting of a load by one or more employees, and includes lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying, or moving a load which, by reason of its characteristics or of unfavourable ergonomic conditions involves risk, particularly of back injury, to employees.
Manual Handling and the Law
Where manual handling cannot be avoided, it is then the duty of the employer to assess the risks to the employee, with respect to the manual handling tasks and to provide training in safe manual handling so as to prevent accidents which result in back injury.
Aim:
The aim is for course members to be able to lift and handle loads in a safe and efficient manner, reduce the risk of injury and conform to the 2007 General Applications Regulations Part 2 Chapter 4.
